Stamford Tent, Ace Party Rental, and Sperry Tents, in the Hamptons.

Sperry has beautiful old-fashioned, hand-sewn tents with wooden poles. You know when cars had mahogany dashboards? That’s the era their tents are from.

What can you do to make a Frame tent more attractive?
Get a clear top so you’re looking up at the sky rather than at the metal framework. Just know that clear tops may overheat in summer and crack in winter. Or, if your property overlooks the water, leave the sides open or do clear walls. One good thing about the Frame is that the perimeter poles are adjustable so you can install it on uneven ground.

When is flooring necessary?
For a daytime event it’s acceptable to have grass under your feet—as long as women know not to wear heels. Flooring is necessary if you’re in a Structure, or in a Century on uneven landscape.

Which flooring is best?
Astroturf, in black, white, or beige. Never in green. We did a party with red, which was hot, but large companies don’t buy red in huge quantities. But, oh my God, do people love to walk into a red tent!

What if your surroundings aren’t beautiful?
Use lighting. Green, yellow, and blue aren’t flattering. Instead, saturate the tent with sunset tones and change the color every three hours. Or use gobo lights in a Century; project patterns onto the ceiling.

Which lighting company do you recommend?
Eventlights does small jobs, has fair pricing, and has a decent-size inventory.

How would you disguise poles?
Use simple swags of fabric. Don’t use flowers; that’s dated.

What would you recommend in terms of suspended décor?
Have a big punch over the dance floor, like a 3.5-foot disco ball from Eventlights ($1,000), or a weather balloon—an enormous, white rubber globe (from $30 at Balloon Dealer). Or rig a bubble machine from the ceiling. The new ones from PRG Lighting blow large bubbles that aren’t soapy (from $90).

How much is it to furnish a tent?
$5,000 is an absolute minimum budget for that. Offset costs and get a tax write-off by donating anything you made yourself to Materials for the Arts, in Long Island City. And don’t forget, it’s not just about décor. You have to cool or heat a tent, too [from $9,000 and $1,500, respectively, for a 150-person Frame from Stamford Tent].

What about a catering tent?
If you’re getting one, you’ll need a port-a-path—plastic flooring that raises you off the ground in case it rains. It doesn’t need A/C—just lights and fans if it’s July.

What about port-a-potties?
For a party of 200 you need eight to ten Porta-Johns or one eight-stall trailer [$495 or $4,000 each, respectively, from Stamford Tent]. You need one or the other, because you don’t want 200 guests flushing into your septic tank. That’s not a risk you want to take on your wedding day.

Mr Charles Kittredge, Chairman and CEO of Crane & Co., Inc. was honored for his innovative leadership of an historic American company. The Society's invitation archives printed on Crane paper were on exibit during the event. Crane paper is manufactured with recycled cotton. Wedding Superstitions and Traditions for a Russian Bride

Odd or Even Number of Flowers - Even numbers of flowers are only given at funerals. Never give an even number of flowers to your wife or girlfriend! Remember "odd is good!".

No Yellow Flowers - Never give yellow flowers to your lover, as it implies that an argument will happen and your relationship will end.

Scattering Coins - "Money goes to money" according to this superstition, so you will attract lots of fortune if you leave coins scattered throughout your bags, cupboards, and drawers.

The Flow of Wealth - This Russian superstition says you should always take/receive money with your left hand, but give it with your right hand.

Money in the Evening - Do not count money after dark, and never lend it in the evening time, as it is a sign that you will lose your wealth. The same goes for taking out the rubbish after sunset!

Feet - If you accidentally stand on your lover's foot, he/she must "return the favour", and stand on yours. If not, you will soon have a quarrel.

Towels - A husband and wife should not dry their hands in the same towel at the same time. The superstition says that this will attract a quarrel.

On the way to the Church - When a bride and groom are on their way to the church, they mustn’t look behind themselves. According to this superstition, it means that they are looking back to their previous home and they will not be able to have a happy new life and marriage.

Holding Hands - At the wedding ceremony, a bride should hold her groom by the hand. It signifies that she is forming a closed space between them which no-one will be able to break.

Wedding Rings - Do not take your wedding ring off to show it to someone else, or worse still to let them try it on. The wedding ring is worn on your fourth finger, which is the one under the influence of the sun, and is a sign of our heart's true love. If you take it off to show to another, it means you are giving away your love and happiness to a stranger.

WWD has learned that Condé Nast plans to fold the Brides Local magazines, which are published in 16 different regions. Some say is America’s answer to the royal wedding, David Lauren married Lauren Bush last night in a stunning ceremony overlooking the Rocky Mountains.

Lauren Bush, from now on known as Lauren Bush Lauren, wore an intricately embroidered Victorian-style gown designed by father of the groom Ralph Lauren that one guest described as “one of Ralph’s most iconic designs.” David wore a vintage Lincoln era-inspired tuxedo, while guests dressed in Western-themed black tie, featuring cowboy boots, denim and turquoise jewelry.

Guests at the sprawling Double RL ranch in Ridgeway, Colo., named after its owners Ralph and Ricky Lauren, included Lauren’s uncle, former president George W. Bush, wife Laura and daughters Jenna and Barbara, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and the Lauren family, including David’s sister Dylan

Missing were her grandparents George HW and Barbara Bush, who were unable to attend because of the altitude at the ranch.

Sources tell us they sent a video message played at the Saturday night rehearsal dinner, in which they said they were sad not to be able to make it,

but they were thrilled that Lauren is marrying David.

The nuptials, which had a Western theme in fitting with the surroundings and the two iconic American families, began with Lauren riding in a horse-drawn carriage to a hand-crafted ceremony structure made out of the ranch’s Aspen trees. Guests watched from carved wooden benches as the sun set over the mountains and Lauren walked down the aisle, arm in arm with both of her parents, Sharon and Neil.

Following the ceremony, conducted by Cantor Angela Buchdahl of Manhattan’s Central Synagogue, guests walked to a nearby barn on a meadow.

Our spy said “the barn doors swung open to introduce the newlyweds for their first dance.” The reception featured country singing by Michael Martin Murphey, with the crowd of 200 guests dancing and dining on steak from the ranch.

The wedding party included Lauren’s brother, Pierce, and her sister, Ashley, as well as David’s brother, Andrew, and Dylan with her new husband, Paul Arrouet.

Some destination weddings just involve the eloping couple, others include a few close friends and family, and still others are full blowout affairs with multiple parties over a long wedding weekend.
So is a destination wedding right for you? Here are the pros and cons:

Pro: A Complete Package
Resorts and tourism organizations have seen the dollar signs behind this trend and so work hard to keep a destination wedding stress-free and simpler. As part of a package deal, many offer the complimentary services of their on-site wedding consultant who will help you coordinate all of the ceremony essentials (marriage license, cake, officiant, etc.) All you have to do is show up! Also talk to your wedding coordinator about organizing activities for your guests such as sightseeing, SCUBA or snorkeling excursions, sports, or shopping. If your resort has a spa onsite, give your guests gift certificates for spa services to help them really enjoy their stays.

Con: Planning a Wedding Long Distance and Legal Red Tape
For those of you not getting married at a resort, you'll have to juggle all those details yourself long distance. If your destination wedding is in a foreign country or even another state, you might run into complications when trying to get a marriage license. Consider hiring a coordinator who specializes in destination weddings to help you over these speed bumps. You'll want to know how to get a marriage license in that location. You can also consult the marriage site at about.com for laws in popular destinations. And, check with those tourist boards, who may have literature available to help you find local florists, photographers, and venues.

Pro: Avoiding Stressful Family Situations
With a smaller invitation list, you can avoid feeling "forced" to invite the cousin you can't stand, or the in-law that everyone fights with. Just invite your very closest friends and family to the intimate ceremony and celebration, or keep it romantic and don't invite anyone. You can always send them pictures!

Con: Family Members and Friends You Love May Not Be There
Particularly for far-away locations, some guests may not be able to attend due to the expense, or the difficulty of getting time off of work. Older guests may not be able to travel so far away from home. Talk to those who are truly essential before you book tickets and send invitations. On the plus side, you'll have far more time to spend with the guests who come to a destination wedding than those who come to a more traditional wedding.

Pro: You'll Save Money By Not Having 200 People at a Reception
Spending a luxurious wedding weekend in a dramatic location can often cost less than a seated dinner at a nice location. Destination Wedding Etiquette calls for the bride and groom to pay for the hotel rooms, food and most of the guests' expenses. Guests pay for their own airfare. If money is an issue, look to domestic locations or countries with a favorable exchange rate, and consider keeping the guest list small.

Con: Some of your loved ones may not be able to afford to travel that far
Again, talk to those who are truly essential before you've made the final decision on your destination wedding location. Consider paying for some of your guests' airfare, and look into group discounts through travel agents.

Pro: By Combining Wedding and Honeymoon, You Can Afford to Go to that Dream Honeymoon Locale
Instead of spending your honeymoon at a Bread and Breakfast close to home, you can have the trip of a lifetime in an glamorous location. Best of all, you'll have an excuse to return there for a 5-, 10-, or 25-year anniversary.

Con: With Your Family Around, and a Wedding to Worry About, Will You Really Get a Honeymoon?
Of course, you'll be in a beautiful place, but will you have enough romantic alone time? To get around this, make sure you schedule it and insist on it. Arrive a few days before everyone else (you may need to do this anyway for marriage license requirements), or have a honeymoon nearby afterwards. If neither of these are possible, find interesting things your wedding party can do while you and your fiancé have couple time.

It is composed of pink protea flowers, which originate from South Africa and are the emblem of the country.

The religious wedding bouquet

The bouquet was designed by "Armani" and assembled by the gardeners of the Prince's Palace

It is composed in shades of white with freesias, dendrobium orchids and lilies of the valley. The cascade design fits perfectly with the smooth lines of the bride's gown and her slim silhouette. The lily of the valley is the favourite flower of H.S.H. Princess Charlene; it inspired the design of the floral ramage embroidery on her wedding dress.

Same-sex marriage was legalized in the U.S. state of New York on June 24, 2011 by the New York State Legislature and Governor Andrew Cuomo.
In 2006, the New York Court of Appeals ruled that there is no constitutional right to same-sex marriage in New York.[1] Following the 2006 Court decision, the New York State Assembly passed same-sex marriage legislation in 2007, 2009, and 2011. However, the New York Senate rejected same-sex marriage legislation in a 38-24 vote on December 2, 2009.[2] After negotiations between Republican members of the Senate and Governor Andrew Cuomo, regarding protections against discrimination lawsuits for religious groups and non-profit organizations, a same-sex marriage bill known as the Marriage Equality Act passed the State Senate by a vote of 33-29 on June 24, 2011.[3] Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the measure the same night, allowing the law to go into effect on July 24, 2011.[3]

New York is on the verge of becoming the sixth state to allow gay marriage. Gov Cuomo introduced the bill in both chambers on Tuesday. In an effort to pacify Republicans, the bill has several stipulations that exempt religious institution from having to oblige or provide facilities for gay weddings.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has pushed for gay marriage, garnishing widespread support from Democrats in the State Assembly. However, Republicans, who control the State Senate, have been an obstacle in his goal. But, Republicans are coming around to the idea. Tuesday, two Republican state senators gave their support to Gov. Cuomo’s gay marriage bill. Thirty-one Republicans support the bill.
