17 duos of Fashion designers and florists, teamed up for the 8th VCNY event,
The Tulips And Pansies Headdress Affair.
The annual event showcases amazing floral millinery by fashion and floral designers and benefits Village Care of New York, an organization that provides care for New York citizens living with AIDS/HIV. This year it took place on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at the Edison Ballroom in New York

Inspiration ....Vintage Postcards

My bride Molly found a collection of vintage postcards to use as her inspiration for her invitation. Molly's father recreated this charmimng bundle of cards for her guests. "It was lot of work" said her mother... but so worth it.

My next bride will be using the the inspiration of Navy Blue, Gold, White and Green for her wedding. A very Ralph Lauren look don't you think?

The Tiffany Blue color is trademarked by Tiffany & Co. and it is " top secret " says Vicky Herbert. She's a good friend who was a part of the marketing team at Panton. Duplicating it would be an infringement of this trademark.

So what color could be a close match ?

A good “match” for Tiffany blue is found on the Panatone color chart and it’s number is 1837. Coincidentally the same year Tiffany & Company was established.

Or try Sherwin Williams paint called Mariner SW6766 or Benjamin Moore's Tropicana Cabana 2048-50.

I found Emplume at pearlsevents.blogspot.com My grandmother in the 1920's use to make feather hats ... so why not in your Bouquet??? Quite a few of the top NY designers are adding them in their arangments this year, And Ralf Lauren has quite a few fine plumes adorning the fall collection..

Inspeiration ....Boxwood

This weekend’s bride found inspiration starting in her Vera Wang gown. By taking a visual queue from her marquisate trim. We used tin floral containers and boxwood garland for the tent poles, buffet stations and cake table. To complete the story line she reinterpreted this Martha Stewart wedding cake. It was a perfect Newport garden wedding for a perfectly wonderful Newport bride.

Thanks Alison and Adam for making this such a joyful year of wedding planning bliss! I can't wait to see Christian Oths photos!

A Tisket a Tasket....

Lightship Baskets are unique to the island of Nantucket. But we here in Newport do borrow them from time to time. They make wonderful baskets for maids and flower girls.
