Sea Joy

I found this charming poem by Jackie Kennedy when she was just ten years old.

Titled "Sea Joy."

When I go down by the sandy shore
I can think of nothing I want more
Than to live by the booming blue sea
As the seagulls flutter round about me
I can run about when the tide is out
With the wind and the sand and the sea all about
And the seagulls are swirling and diving for fish.
Oh – to live by the sea is my only wish.

It's so interesting that she found a fellow who so loved the sea as much as she did.

Jacqueline Kennedy's Wedding Bracelet was designed by JFK and Jackie together before their wedding in 1953. Jackie contributed the pearls and diamonds, while John added the two nautical ropes, representing his family's love of the sea.

If you have a chance to go to the Newport Historical Society and take a walking tour. You can learn not just a lot about Newport, but so much the about the history of our country.

HALLOWEEN IN NEWPORT

I took Jennifer and Christopher to the 6th Annual Ballard Park Pumpkin Tour.
What a wonderful fall experience!!!! This is a great collaboration of so many community groups. Ballard Park's quarry meadow gets transformed into a magnificent blooming garden of lights when thousands of Christmas tree lights, luminaries, and gobos and up lights enrich the park's three-acre quarry meadow, which includes a vernal pond, rock wall and groves of trees. I meet Rocco Michaluk while working on a wedding for a NY bride. I so enjoyed working with him that we co-produced a video called: Hoopskirt101(c)

I must say, I now have so much technical respect for craft of video and film making. When looking at the raw footage of HoopSkirt101, I just couldn’t figure out how to glue the footage, narration and music together. Rocco made it look so easy. He saw my vision and produced a perfectly wonderful video. Now I know why editing costs as much as it does. Its hours of hard work, skill and talent.

The 38th Annual Newport International Boat Show, September 11-14, 2008, will feature new sailboats and powerboats, and thousands of products and services from both domestic and international exhibitors.

Thursday, Friday & Saturday: 10 AM to 6 PM
Sunday: 10 AM to 5 PM

Multiple waterfront facilities along America's Cup Avenue and Thames Street host the Show including Newport Yachting Center, Oldport Marine and Bannister's Wharf, which are all connected by show docks. Our newest expansion, Bowen's Wharf, will showcase downeast-style boats. Bowen's Wharf is centrally located within other show sites including Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina, which hosts the Passagemaker TrawlerPort Program and also showcases center-console boats on land. All Show sites are "connected" by FREE water taxis.
