Now managed by Caroline,
I think this is the perfect wedding gift for the Newport Bride, Maid or Mother.

Wedding Bracelet
JFK and Jackie designed this bracelet together before their wedding in 1953. Jackie contributed the pearls and diamonds, while John added the two nautical ropes, representing his family's love of the sea.
The bracelet was a perfect addition to her wedding gown. A small drawstring bag is included for travel.
The Wedding Bracelet has 25 Swarovski crystals, 18 simulated pearls, box and tongue clasp.
It is available in 7" or 8" with platinum plating. $70.00

Engagement Bracelet
John was so elated that Jackie had accepted his proposal of marriage that he purchased this very special engagement present for her on July 11, 1953. She was very moved by her fiance's thoughtfulness.
This Engagement Bracelet has 38 Swarovski Crystals with a box and tongue clasp.
It is available in 7" or 8" with platinum plating. $70.00

Pantone's Color of the Year Is...

According to The New York Times December 20 2007
Pantone’s choice of color is blue iris other wise known as No. 18-3943.

Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said
“Blue Iris brings together the dependable aspects of blue, underscored by a strong, soul-searching purple cast. Emotionally, it is anchoring and meditative with a touch of magic.”

When I was at Special Event last year,
I took these photographs of the booths for a lecture on
The Trends of Color at the Waldorf=Astoria.
And yes iris blue, and fern green were defiantly being shown.
But are brides renting it.

Are you going to use this color palette?

I look forward to see what colors will be happening this year!

Newport RI can make you a philanthropist on your wedding day.
With over 100 non-for profits in the town, many of them have event spaces available for rent.
So instead of having your wedding in a hotel ballroom or a venue owned by a
corporation, take part of your wedding budget and support a non-for profit.
Here are some of the museums and venues that are available for rent.

Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy

The Quintessential Newport Bride

What can I say that hasn’t been said before about this most remarkable woman.
15 years ago or so had the opportunity to tour Hammersmith Farm just before it closed.I remember taking a pause on that beautiful stairwell and just for a just moment, I became Jackie Kennedy tossing her bouquet.

At my web site A Newport Affair www.anewportaffaire.com
There is a collection of photographs, articles and a slide show about the wedding.
I hope they become an inspiration to you in planning your wedding here in Newport.

Hammersmith Farm is now close to the public and is now a private residence. One can best see it today from Newports grand harbor.

If your looking for the view that Jack and Jackie had for your wedding,
You will want to look at:

What’s with that Pineapple ?

The Pineapple is a symbol of welcome derived from the practice of placing a real pineapple at the door to announce that the sea-captain owner had returned from his long voyage and was ready to receive guests.

Newport has hundreds examples of wonderful colonial homes.
Make sure you visit “The Point” section of Newport on your next trip.
Facing the harbor Its just to the right of the Visitors Center.

So when the New England Society of NYC asked me to design the decor for the annual holiday party, the pineapple simple ruled.

My next bride plans to hang a pineapple on the front door of her venue.

Why don’t you?

The Eisenhower House

The Eisenhower House is a charming victorian farm house at the top of the hill in Fort Adams State Park.

It in now one of my favorite venues for a tented event.

Here is the History of the House.
Eisenhower House is a historic late nineteenth-century home that served as the residence for the Commandant of Fort Adams. Newport architects George C. Mason and Son designed the house in 1873, and General Henry Jackson Hunt was the first in a long line of military officers to live here.
The most famous resident was President Dwight D. Eisenhower, for whom the house is named. President Eisenhower vacationed here during the late summer of 1958 and 1960. At first, the president was quartered at the Naval War College on Coasters Harbor Island. But golf was Ike’s passion, and given Eisenhower House’s location near the Newport Country Club golf course, this became the president’s Summer White House.
The United States Navy transferred Fort Adams and Eisenhower House to the State of Rhode Island in 1964 for use as a state park. Today Eisenhower House is a historic site listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the property is the scene of many public and social events.

Your Newport Wedding

Photo From The Movie Evening, filmed and set In Newport RI

You ask.... Why Get Married In Newport R.I. ?

It was the original Hamptons after all! A summer playground with wonderful style!

An Editor at www.DestinationIDo.com just asked me ...

"What does Newport , RI have to offer to a couple
trying to organize a wedding?"

A simply spectacular assortment of locations - Dazzling ocean views – Elegant style from the classic to the contemporary!

From a former summer White House, two Vanderbilt mansions, a Belmont stable that looks like a medieval castle, Classic Hotel ballrooms, to a new hip South Beach-style venue … Intimate or Grand, Old World or Modern…the diversity of the venues Newport has to offer is unparalleled

Newport has so many resources for a couple and their guests to take advantage of on the wedding weekend.
Boating, Biking, Fishing, Scuba Diving, Beaches, Golf, Tennis, Great Restaurants, Shopping, Antiquing. Museums, Historic sites, Art Galleries , Nature Preserves and great festivals for every season.

Summer of course is a favorite time to enjoy Newport but don’t overlook the romantic feeling of the Holidays with cozy firesides and Victorian Christimas decorations or Fall when the leaves are turning and the air is newly crisp…Personally, I look forward to the Jazz Festival every summer as a Grace Kelly-worthy occasion (after all she immortalized the festival in the film, High Society) but The Clam Chowder Cook Off and the Boat Show are also great times in Newport.

Some couples will even choose to plan their wedding weekend around these festivals.
Buy tickets for your guests and build these fun, fabulous festivals in to the wedding weekend activities.
I love the Americas Cup Charters, where you can rent Historic 12 Meter sailing yachts and create your own Americas Cup Experience!!!

It’s a Newport tradition to hold a Pre-Wedding Rehearsal Dinner Race, the Groomsmen Vs the Bridesmaids!
Newport is also the home of the Tennis Hall of Fame and tennis courts are plentiful - if boat races don’t engage the wedding party, tennis is an alternative.

And for true tennis buffs, the Casino is one of Newport ’s most extraordinary places to get married and hold wedding festivities…
Newport offers entertaining pursuits for singles as well as couples, families with children as well as parents of the bride and groom
Every one feels welcome here. So come be married in The City by the Sea, we’ll do our best to see that you live happily ever after.
Newport R.I
